Types of Tooth Extractions

There are two main types of tooth extractions, depending on the condition of the tooth:

  • Simple Extraction – Performed when the tooth is fully visible above the gum line. The dentist loosens the tooth using an instrument called an elevator before carefully removing it with forceps.
  • Surgical Extraction – Required when a tooth has broken off at the gum line, is impacted, or has not fully erupted. This procedure may involve making a small incision in the gum to safely remove the tooth.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to develop, often emerging in the late teens or early twenties. In many cases, these teeth do not have enough space to grow properly, leading to complications such as impaction, infection, or crowding of surrounding teeth.

During your consultation, we will conduct a full oral exam, including X-rays, to assess the position and size of your wisdom teeth. We will also discuss the procedure and available anesthesia options to ensure your comfort throughout the process.
