Veneers
Veneers create a brilliant, more natural-looking smile. At Pacific Dental Group, we recommend veneers for many patients who want to:
- Restore their broken, chipped or cracked teeth
- Align their crooked teeth
- Reshape their teeth that appear too long or too short
- Brighten their severely discolored teeth.
- Correct the excess spacing and gaps between their teeth
Porcelain veneers take approximately two scheduled appointments to complete. The doctor begins the process by performing a comprehensive oral exam. Porcelain veneers consist of a thin ceramic layer that replaces your original tooth enamel. A small amount of the tooth’s enamel is removed, which allows room for the porcelain veneer to fit on the tooth. The adhesive between the original tooth and the porcelain veneer is essential. A light-sensitive resin is placed in-between the original tooth and the veneer, and a curing light is used to harden the bond.
Composite bonding, or composite veneers, is a non-invasive procedure that improves the look of your teeth. It is a more traditional approach to porcelain veneers. Composite bonding is a tooth-colored filling that is used by the doctor to form the veneer. It can correct small cosmetic defects, needing a minimum of two appointments. After the teeth are reshaped and prepared, the dentist bonds and sculpts the composite resin using a color that matches your teeth. A curing light is needed to harden the resin to your teeth. Then the doctor polishes and smoothes the veneers to look like your natural teeth.
LUMINEERS are a more modern method to correct permanently stained, discolored, chipped, or misaligned teeth. LUMINEERS are porcelain veneers that are as thin as a contact lens and placed over your teeth without having to remove your tooth’s structure, which can be painful. In just two or three visits to the dentist, LUMINEERS provide a custom-made smile that can last for over 20 years.
